Olympia reopens its doors towards Afghan athletes after a long period of silence

Five Afghan athletes have come out to participate in the Olympic Games in Athens 2004.

The Olympic Games in Athens 2004 were formally opened on August 13th. At the opening ceremony Afghans were the first participants to represent their country, by moving its flag along with great national feelings.

Fereba Rezaee (judo), Robena Muqeemyar (track & field), Ahmad Rahmati (wrestling), Massod Azizi (track and field) and Basharmal Sultani (boxing) are taking part in the coming next days competitions in Athens Olympics 2004.

Meanwhile Afghan expectations from participants are going higher from inside the country. They want them to be back with good results. Mass media are providing people with updated news from Athens.

"Can they fulfill peoples expectations?"  This is the question asked to Mr. Ahmad Munir Paam. He said: “I am proud to claim that our athletes became able to participate in such a historical competition. In addition it is a great opportunity and supportive of good moral amongst other athletes.”
