Basharmal Sultani's boxing match in Athens:
August 15 was not a
lucky day for Afghan athletes in Athens
Basharmal Sultani (in the
red cloths) lost the match in fourth round. This losing shocked Afghan athletes in
and outside the country. He is known to be one of the best boxing athletes in Afghanistan.
His
success in several previous Asian competitions supported him to be selected for the competitions
in Athens.
Master Arian Khaibar, head of
Afghan Tackwando Jidokwan Association adds his opinion:
“Sultani was a successfull
athlete for
and
played well. I believe that each competition is an opportunity and this time the opportunity
didn’t work for him." He adds “Basharmal Sultani’s loosing for Hikal from Egypt does not discourage Afghan athlete’s moral.”
